Stage 6 Biology
At Cascade we offer a range of options for your senior students from 1-day trips to locations on the coast or inland to 3-day camps based at Cascade. Our programmes can be conducted to work within the old (2017) or new (2025) syllabus.
About this excursion
A biology camp typically offers students a range of habitats to investigate and compare during their stay. Students will investigate aspects of evolution and ecosystems and study the ecosystem dynamics of our selected habitats.
We can also support students in their studies around changing and sustainable ecosystems.
Excursion activities
The program gives students an opportunity to conduct a first hand investigation and to develop skills in applying the processes of Working Scientifically including; questioning, planning, conducting, processing, analysing, problem solving and communicating. Students collect quantitative and qualitative data of both abiotic and biotic factors. They acquire knowledge and understanding through exploration of inquiry questions, practical learning, expert guidance and assessment. Cascade EEC supports schools, teachers and students by ensuring that field work is conducted safely (risk assessment), providing engaging resources and meeting the curriculum outcomes.
