Youth Environmental Council (YEC)

The Youth Environment Council (YEC) is a group of environmentally conscious and active students from local schools.

Each term Cascade EEC invites the YEC to meet and discuss current, relevant and important environmental issues.

The focus area changes each term depending on current areas of interest in the community.  Topics explored in the past have included: plastic waste, renewable energy, deforestation, food security, connecting with nature and sustainability.

Students have a chance to share what their perspectives and concerns are with regards to a broad range of environmental areas of concern and the future sustainability of the planet.

Part of the YEC's aim is to encourage students to take an active interest in the environment, to connect with, care for and protect it.

Students inspire each other and work together to find innovative local solutions to real world issues. During our very popular events each school has an opportunity to share current projects they are running to inspire others.
